January Red Horse Event News

January Red Horse Event News

Hello everyone.

We hope you had a good holiday season and are able to bring in the new year with support and peace.

We recognize there has been significant conflict and pain in the world and in the news in recent days. Processing those types of events is not our purpose in public messaging and bulletins; however, we know that it impacts all of us, and the regulation and peaceful self-work that Red Horse offers is often a balm for the stress, pain, and heartache that come from violence and loss of life. We share this to respectfully hold space for reflection and healing first, before moving forward with sharing upcoming opportunities to connect.

Here's Maya, napping to serve as a calming, grounding moment of peace.

EVENTS

We have a number of wellness and fundraising events coming up, with more on the way!

First Fridays Winter Series: Thanks to those who joined us in December for AWE - Art with Everyone!

Tomorrow, on January 9th, we will lean into a poignant and important topic. We'll hear from local supporters and discuss what it looks like to be supportive through and with an allyship lens in a time of I.C.E.

Please note, this is a guided discussion to help build awareness and share empathy and compassion for our community. It is not a rapid response training.

In February's First Friday, on Feb. 6th, we're going to learn more about the year of the Fire Horse and the Lunar New Year, which starts on February 17th, which is Fat Tuesday! We'll get our learn on while creating artsy, decorative, & symbolic cardboard horses to carry with us at the Saugatuck Second Line - Mardi Gras Pub Crawl.

Our big Winter event is The Saugatuck Second Line – Mardi Gras Pub Crawl on Fat Tuesday, February 17th. It celebrates community, leaning into traditions of New Orleans with our own Michigan twists. You can learn more about the event and the history of second lines at www.redhorse.red/ssl. There's no charge to attend; however, you can plan ahead by ordering party kits, reserving your dinner seats with the Southerner, and buying raffle tickets for amazing bundles of local prizes. Laissez les bon temps rouler! "Let the good times roll!"

It seems like a long way away, but we're already planning & dreaming of Spring. We're working on figuring out what changes we'll be making to our annual Spring Fundraiser, but we'll start with sharing our SAVE THE DATE post. Saturday, May 16th, is the week before Memorial Day. We envision a sunny day on the farm with fresh air, herd visits, delicious food and drink, collaborative art, lovely live music, and of course, the Artful Auction. Our teams are busy shaping how to make this year the best, most engaging Porch Party ever!

In April, you're invited to join us for this in-person workshop focused on applying the ARCH facilitation framework with (or without) horses. This workshop seamlessly integrates insights from ARCH online courses into hands-on practice, enhancing your personal and professional growth.

Experience: Enjoy a relaxing setting where you can connect with colleagues, advance your skills, and engage in professional and personal development experiences.
It's engaging and helpful for many different approaches to coaching, teaching and serving others.

Certification: This workshop fulfills the hands-on requirement to apply for ARCH Certification in SEEN through Horses.

Red Horse Programs & Services for you and yours...We're preparing another bulletin to focus on how you can engage with us for various services. Perhaps you'd like to inquire about therapy sessions, or a personal or group Thrive Retreat, or Herd meditation? If you or your team would like to talk about team retreats, trauma-informed education, or individual professional coaching, we'd love to begin a conversation.

Juniper's House: We've been working hard with the support of many volunteers and donors to have Juniper's House ready for Spring Retreat Rentals. We'll share these updates in our next Programs & Services bulletin, so you can let us know when you'd like to stay with us.

From our herd to yours,
